• Here are some simple recommended care suggestions (this list is not all inclusive):
  
• Do not wear your jewelry to bed or to the gym, while exercising, swimming or doing household chores.
  
• Avoid contact with chemicals, poolwater, sea water, hair spray, perfume or cologne, household cleaners, bleach, and even tap and well water (water can leave behind hard mineral deposits).
  
• Apply make-up and hair spray before putting on your jewelry.
  
• Store away from sunlight, as the sun may fade many natural stones. Sunlight damages amethyst, amerind, aquamarine, aventurine, beryl, celestine, citrine, hiddenite, rose quartz, smoky quartz and other colored quartz.
  
• Protect your Backlace^® from scratches, sharp blows and tugging.
  
• Always store your Backlace^® lying flat, not hung.
  
• Sterling silver and gold fill both tarnish and oxidize when exposed to air. This natural tarnish can be cleaned with a mild commercial tarnish remover specifically designed for jewelry, but avoid the gemstones!

Caring for your hand-made Backlace^® is as easy as caring for any other fine jewelry. It is recommended to use mild sudsy water for cleaning, followed with a light polishing with a jewelry polishing cloth. There are, however, many other methods for jewelry cleaning, including professional cleaning. Please be very careful that your gemstones and pearls can withstand your chosen method. Do not place in a chemical cleaner amber, aquamarine, bone, coral, emerald, jade, lapis, malachite, opal, pearl (faux or natural), shells or turquoise (this is only a partial list).
